Terms and Conditions

 

1. DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES

The closing date for entries is midnight on the 1 December 2016.

2. ELIGIBILITY
You must be a student on any year of a UK Design course at HND or degree level, an MA student or a recently qualified designer within 2 years since qualification and resident in the UK (there is no age restriction). The competition is not open to employees of the Lighting Industry Association. There can only be only one named entrant per entry.

3. SUBMISSIONS
All entries must be supplied digitally via a link which will be available on the site www.delightinlight.org. Material submitted in any other way, including by email or hard copy, will not be accepted. Entries must be supplied within the guidelines specified at point of upload.

4. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

1)     No responsibility can be accepted for incorrectly uploaded entries. Entries via agents or third parties are invalid. The organisers cannot be held responsible for entries which are lost or incorrectly uploaded owing to hardware, software or connectivity problems

2)     All correctly completed entries will be shortlisted by public vote on the website. The judges will then confirm a shortlist to go forward to the final to be held on 18 January 2017.

3)     The shortlist will be announced on this website by 9 December 2016. The design with the highest public vote via the website will be automatically included in the final. The judges will also take into account the high ranking designs from the public vote although there is no guarantee that the remainder top 10 will be selected for the final. The judges’ decision is final.

4)     The shortlisted entrants will be notified of this by the appropriate manner.

5)     Shortlisted entrants will be required to provide the following submissions for each design entry:
a) An A3 board presentation consisting of a maximum of 4 boards to show at the Final.
b) A working physical prototype of the design (the judges understand that different facilities are available to the entrants and will make allowances for this when judging the quality of the prototype).
c) The finalist must prepay all shipping costs, insurance and handling fees for their entries.

6)     A single first prize will be awarded to the winning design which will be the one, in the opinion of the judges that best fulfils the brief.

7)     The first-prize winner will receive a cheque for £1000 and the title Delight in Light-National Lighting Designer of the Year 2016. Other prizes including placements and tours of cutting edge lighting companies may become available throughout the year.

8)     If, at the sole discretion of the judges, none of the entries is of a sufficiently high standard to merit the award, no prize will be awarded.

9)     The winner will be announced on 18 January 2017.

10)  Events may occur that render the design competition itself or the awarding of the prize impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the Organisers. The organisers may, at their absolute discretion, vary or amend the promotion and the winner agrees that, in such event, no liability shall attach itself to the Organisers

11)  The decision of the judges is final and correspondence will be entered into only at the absolute discretion of the Organisers.

12)  The winner and finalists agree to take part in reasonable post-event publicity and to the use of their names and photographs in such publicity.

13)  All entrants hereby license to the Organisers the use of their entry for display on any website owned by them.

14)  Each entrant warrants to the Organisers that his/her entry is original, and made without the inclusion of material owned by any third party.

15)  The Organisers will use any data submitted by entrants only for the purposes of running the competition, unless otherwise stated in the entry details. By entering this competition, all entrants consent to the use of their personal data by Delight in Light for the purposes of the administration of this competition and any other purposes to which the entrant has consented.

16)  By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees to these terms and conditions of the Organisers
